In the Delhi Assembly, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs leveled a serious charge against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. After Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was detained in relation to the liquor policy scam case, the MLAs asserted that the BJP was attempting to place the nation's capital under President's authority.

Arvind Kejriwal was taken into custody in connection with a money laundering case related to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21. He is presently under judicial detention until April 15.

Amid discussions on "efforts to unconstitutionally impose President's Rule in Delhi," Madan Lal, the party's MLA from Kasturba Nagar, alleged that the saffron party was trying to pressure Kejriwal into stepping down after his arrest.

"A situation resembling an emergency has been instigated in Delhi, with the L-G declaring that he will not permit Kejriwal to govern from prison," news agency PTI cited Lal as stating.

In addition, AAP MLA for Bijwasan BS Joon asserted that some individuals are fomenting fear and panic by disseminating false information regarding the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly. He went on to say that Delhi was not experiencing a constitutional crisis. The MLA mentioned that PILs requesting Kejriwal's removal from the Chief Minister's position have been denied by the Delhi High Court. The party's Model Town MLA, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, claimed that Arvind Kejriwal was detained in a "fake" case, but the AAP will not bow to the pressure of the BJP. Kejriwal will remain chief minister of Delhi, he said.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak stated, "Today Kejriwal is in jail," during a press conference. He has honestly carried out his obligation. We now bear this obligation, as do the two crore residents of Delhi and each and every family. Kejriwal, who has risked everything and done so much for every Delhi family, is being watched by the entire globe. Hold your grief and suffering close to your heart because on election day, votes will determine whether someone goes to jail or not."
